Mayberry & Miss Liv Ready For Rematch

An impressive line-up of two-year-old trotting fillies is headed to Georgian Downs on Tuesday, July 23 for the second leg of the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series.

The first $42,000 division features a rematch from the season opener as winner Miss Liv and runner-up Mayberry prepare for another fierce battle. In the July 5 event at Mohawk Racetrack, Miss Liv led the field through much of the race, but was barely able to hold off a hard-closing Mayberry in the stretch, hanging on for a neck decision in 1:59.

In round two, Oakville resident Rick Zeron will steer Mayberry from post three for his partners Fred Brayford of Alliston and James Walker of Port Perry. The trio purchased the Kadabra daughter from last fall’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale for $22,000. Campbellville resident Jack Moiseyev will pilot Miss Liv from post six for owner-breeders Jason Allen, Douglas Allen and Ronald Allen of New Jersey. Charlie Morris trains the filly, another daughter of Kadabra.

Mayberry and Miss Liv will be joined in the first division by Striking Serenade, who was a 1:59.3 winner in the July 5 event. The Striking Sahbra daughter will start from the outside post seven for trainer Ronald Parsons and owner-breeders Richard and Regina Beinhauer of Pennsylvania.

The two-year-old trotting filly battles will kick off in Race 2 and the talented youngsters will also be featured in Races 3, 5, 6, and 9. Post time for the first race at Georgian Downs on Tuesday evening is 7:25 p.m.
