Hollywood Casino at The Meadows set its all-time, single-card handle record on Thursday, July 2.
Boosted by a couple of carryovers and guaranteed pools, along with high east coast temperatures that resulted in a lower number of tracks racing for the day, The Meadows handled $1,686,400 USD for its 13-race card.
The previous record was $1.53 million USD, set in July 2023 on Adios Day.
“We would like to thank all of the horseplayers that made us a big part of their day,” said Michael Carter, Director of Racing. “And a huge thank you to our horsemen for making this card happen today. We know it’s been a difficult couple of days for everyone, but we greatly appreciate their help and perseverance.”
In the afternoon's feature race, Good Feeln To Know and driver Dave Palone kicked off the day's program winning the Open Handicap Trot in a career-best matching 1:52.1 mile by a neck over Battle Hill for trainer Rick Hercules and Pennsylvania owners Jack Piatt III and Howard Alexander.
The Meadows will be back in action on Friday evening at 5:10 p.m., with a 12-race card featuring Pennsylvania Sire Stakes and Stallion Series races for two-year-old filly pacers.
