Winning Legends took home the gold in the $17,000 Winners Over/Open Handicap Trot on Sunday afternoon (July 2) going gate to wire at Saratoga Casino Hotel.
Justin Huckabone was in the bike for Jon Berube as they settled into the pylon post in the field of seven. Huckabone was quick to the front and made every call through fractions in :27.3, :57.1 and 1.26.1. The seven-year-old gelding fended off his opponents in the stretch to win by a length in 1:55.3. Makadushin N Cheez finished second and Malibu Kid was third.
Winning Legends is owned by Room4040 LLC Stables as he collected his 28th win and now has $185,037 in lifetime earnings. It was his fifth win this season in 10 starts.
Yucatan Party Man took the $15,525 Winners Over division with Billy Dobson in the bike. Yucatan Party Man followed the pocket trip behind Gigfy through panels in :28, :57.3 and 1:26.1 before tipping out in the final turn. The Gary Levine trainee pulled off to a 3-1/4 length victory in 1:55.3 over Gigfy and Duckdodgendive.
Owned by Gary Levine, the five-year-old Credit Winner son moved his career bankroll to $190,175 with 10 wins.
