Romo’s Troops Triple Up At Truro

Trainer/driver Danny Romo didn’t have much luck in the early portion of Monday’s program at Truro Raceway, but boy did things come together for the veteran horseman in the latter stages of the 12-race card.

Romo notched a natural training and driving hat trick, and Dreams Matter got the ball rolling with his come-from-behind score in Race 9. The Matter Of Money gelding swept past six foes in the back-half of his assignment en route to posting a comfortable score for Romo in 1:58.3. Next up was stablemate Cereal Love in Race 10. The son of The Panderosa went to the front and didn’t look back in an impressive clocking of 1:58.3.

Oakmont capped off the solid day at the office for Romo by winning Race 11 in 1:55.3. The son of I Am A Fool enjoyed a pocket trip for most of the mile before popping out late and driving away to win by 2-3/4 lengths for owner Paul Gray of Pugwash, NS.

In the racebike Romo has managed to rack up 3,505 wins while banking close to $5.5 million, and from a training perspective he’s sent out 819 winners while hauling in more than $2.1 million in purse winnings.
