Hall of Fame trainer Carl Jamieson sent a trio of two-year-olds to Dresden Raceway for the Prospect Series leg on Sunday, July 19 and all three returned home winners.
Picking up their first career wins dropping from Grassroots competition, the Bettors Delight colts Aces Wired and Untold Story and the Cattlewash filly Pa Lila provided Jamieson with a Prospect Series triple during the afternoon's 14-race card, all driven by his son Jody.
Aces Wired won the fastest of the seven $10,000 divisions, protecting his pylon position through a :28.4 opening quarter and setting middle splits of :59.2 and 1:29 before stopping the clock in 1:58.3. Spiritoftheeclipse (Robert Doyle) rallied on for second, finishing two lengths behind the 1-9 favourite, with Playful Dancer (Natasha Day) 10 lengths back in third.
A $69,444 yearling purchase from the Lexington Selected Sale, the colt out of the Somebeachsomewhere mare Beach Party Hill, won his third career start for owners Jamieson Stable of Puslinch, Ont., Jett Jamieson of Guelph, Ont., George Rogers of Calgary, Alta., and Carmelo Scime of Caledonia, Ont.
Hutt Racing Stable's Untold Story (dam Unred Hanover) was a 1:59.2 popular winner in his second start after rallying three-wide from fourth in a :28.3 final quarter, besting Colombo Ray (Samuel Fillion) and The Dancing King (Mark MacDonell) by three lengths.
Pa Lila took one of the filly divisions as the favourite with a 1:59.4 front-end effort in her third career outing, holding off pocket-pursuer Queen Farroh (Austin Sorrie) by three-quarters a length while Bella Ray (Samuel Fillion) followed back in third. The filly out of the Somebeachsomewhere mare Austalia Hanover was purchased for $91,549 from the Standardbred Horse Sale as a yearling by her trainer and the partnership of 1140545 Ontario Ltd. of Guelph, Ont., Joanne Morrison of Beeton, Ont. and England's George Harrison.
Jody Jamieson also drove a Prospect winner co-owned by Hutt Racing Stable from the Blake MacIntosh barn, as two-time starter Side Dish (Cattlewash-Ms Mac N Cheese) found a clear path in the stretch between foes and nosed out Country Jamboree (Carl Dawson) in 1:59.3 to deliver on her pari-mutuel promise following a show finish in round one of the series at Hanover Raceway earlier this month.
In the other filly division, favourite TH Moment Of Truce collected her third straight win and second in the Prospect Series for trainer Gerard Demers. Austin Sorrie guided the Control The Moment-Truce Seelster filly to a 1:59.3 victory of her own, scoring by 4-1/4 lengths.
Will Farroh (Century Farroh-Superior Rose), the favourite in the day's first colt division, followed up a successful career debut in the first Prospect leg with a 2:01.2 triumph by more than six lengths in his stop at Dresden for trainer Gregg McNair with Jason Ryan driving.
Trainer Heather Pickett's Loose Lines (Betting Line-Loose Boots) took the other colt division in 2:00.3, upsetting the popular pacesetter Talbot Prankster (Garrett Rooney) at 23-1 by half a length in rein to Donnie Rankin Jr.
