Truro Hosts Elims For Mares Series

Scotian Lass and Lifeinthecountry each won divisions of the Wilsons Home Heating Fillies & Mares Series featured on Sunday afternoon at Truro Raceway as Atlantic Grand Circuit Week kicked off.

Scotian Lass was a wire-to-wire winner in the first $1,250 elimination, scoring in 2:00.1 by two and a half lengths over Udine Bayama and Maiden Heaven. Dale Spence drove the six-year-old daughter of The Panderosa for owner and trainer Dawn Ellis Abbott.

Lifeinthecountry was last at the half and circled the six-horse field to win the second elimination in 1:59.4 by two and a half lengths over pacesetter Galamoe, with Just Lovey third. James Ramsay Jr. trains, drives and owns the five-year-old N Xample mare.

The $1,375 top class went to Robert Siteman's four-year-old pacer Bobs Ideal, who romped to a seven and a quarter length victory in a career-best 1:56.3 with trainer/driver Darren Crowe in the sulky.
