Published: July 19, 2012 03:12 pm EDT

Grand River Raceway’s Industry Day Celebration is just three weeks away, and the track has released the third of four weekly reports tracking some of the standout Ontario-sired freshman colts and fillies eligible to start in the July 30 eliminations for the event’s feature races.

The Battle of Waterloo is the marquee dash of Industry Day. There are 158 pacing colts still eligible for the elimination rounds. The top nine finishers will advance to the 15th annual race which will be contested for $300,000.

This week’s gold-star goes to Mach Pride, driven wire-to-wire by Anthony MacDonald in his Ontario sires Stakes (OSS) Gold Elimination at Rideau Carleton Raceway on July 15. He is the son of Mach Three, out of Cyber Wave, and has lodged three wins to his credit, with $61,000 already in the bank. Mach Pride is owned by Gerald Mijal and trained by Louie Eftimiadis. His speed mile was equal to the week before in 1:53, with a sizzling :27.3 last quarter. He will race in the $130,000 Gold final next week from Post 4.

Grand River Raceway’s fourth edition of the $150,000 Battle of the Belles has 167 eligible pacing fillies.

The Battle of the Belles hopeful garnering attention last week was Adventurepan, by Mach Three, out of Disneypan, who also produced Tomorrowpan ($550,000). Adventurepan was able to hold on to win by a head in 1:55.2 in the OSS Gold elimination at Rideau Carleton Raceway on July 15. She’s trained by Ron Burke, driven by Brett Miller and owned by Peter Pan Stables. The freshman filly has banked more than $45,000 season. She’s drawn Post 5 in next week’s OSS Gold final.
