Northside Downs cancelled its live card of harness racing on Saturday, July 18 after a starting gate malfunction in the first race that prompted judges to declare the race a no contest.

At the start of the day's first race, the Tom Lynch Memorial Pace, the starting car did not properly speed away from the field. There were no incidents and the race continued, with Woodmere Bedard wiring the field for driver Larry Snow in 2:05.1. Judges posted an inquiry to determine whether all entries received a fair start before ruling the event a no contest.

Without a functioning starting gate, officials abandoned the afternoon card. A make-up card is planned for Monday, July 20 with a first race post time of 5 p.m. (ADT) pending approvals.
