Gagan Sikand, the local Member of Parliament for Mississauga-Streetsville, visited the Standardbred Canada offices today to present a certificate of appreciation to SC President and CEO, Dan Gall.
Sikand also met with SC`s 2017 summer students, Valerie Ezewski and Vicky Phung. Valerie and Vicky are at SC as part of the Canada Summer Jobs program which provides funding to allow employers to create summer job opportunities for students. The program gives students the chance to gain work experience while supporting organizations, specifically those that provide important community service.
While on site, SC management met with Sikand to discuss the Standardbred industry in Canada. He learned more about Canadian harness racing, and the 250th Anniversary of horse racing.
Sikand has been invited to attend a racing event this summer and he says he looks forward to learning more about the industry, and how the federal government can assist in its future prosperity, across the country.
