The Atlantic Sires Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies headlines the Friday, July 18 card at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway, as part of Governor’s Plate Week.

The 11-dash Friday card has a 6 p.m. (ADT) opening post time with a pair of $18,080 'A' divisions in races five and nine.

A contentious field of eight fillies will kick off the Atlantic Sires Stakes action. Starship Laska headlines the field from post one with Marc Campbell at the controls for trainer Earl Watts and Prince Edward Island-based owners Windemere Farms, Beryl McNeill, Sterling Buchanan and Jack Quinn. The daughter of Arthur Blue Chip and American Chocolate has been razor sharp in her first year of racing with five top three finishes from seven career starts, including a 1:57 front-end score in her latest at Summerside.

The morning line second choice is Mia from post five for trainer/driver Adam Merner, coming off a sparkling 1:56.3 mile in her latest at Charlottetown Driving Park. The third choice is Woodmere Betcha from post eight with Mike McGuigan in the driver's seat for trainer Jamie Smith after finishing third in the Stanfield Memorial Stakes in her last start at Truro Raceway.

The other $18,080 'A' division for sophomore pacing fillies is headlined by Badgirl Bridgette with a three-race win streak on the line from post three. Jason Hughes drives the Stonebridge Terror-Whatabadgirl filly, a Sire Stakes winner on June 6 at Truro, for owner/trainer Bill Lanigan of Montague, P.E.I. Badgirl Bridgette is a nine-time winner from 11 lifetime starts.

Lady Llamrei and trainer/driver Merner loom the danger from post two after a 1:54.2 win in her last start at Charlottetown. Elm Grove Talia, to be driven by trainer David Dowling, is a major threat with rail control along with the Jamie Smith-trained post four starter Woodmere Flojo in rein to Corey MacPherson.

The Friday program also has $6,000 'B' divisions in races two, three and six as well as the Bud Ramsay Memorial Pace in race seven.
