Trotting filly Kinnder Prediction scored her maiden victory in the $10,000 opening round leg of the Breeders Cup Series at the Hippodrome 3R Tuesday, July 17.

The daughter of Northern Escort, driven by Justin Filion, left from the rail and shot to the lead with Montanalaska and Guy Gagnon following them in second place. Gagnon sat until three-quarters, making his move first over for the pacesetter into the final turn. Kinnder Prediction fought at the cones to hold off Montanalaska by a half-length and stopped the clock in 2:02.4.

Montanalaska was second with Precieuse CC, last year’s two-year-old champion, finishing third.

Bred, owned and trained by Denitza Petrova of Melbourne, Kinnder Prediction won for the first time in nine starts career. Due to only three fillies entering the race, it was held as a non-wagering event.

The colt division of the Breeders Cup saw a full field of ten three-year-olds go behind the starting gate.

SG Goliath King and driver Sylvain Grenier left from post seven and grabbed the early lead with race-favourite Nobodynosjustice and driver Guy Gagnon sitting the pocket.

Pulling the pocket before the half mile marker, Gagnon sent Nobodynosjustic after SG Goliath and Grenier but Grenier was not giving the lead and parked Gagnon through the backstretch. Passing three-quarters, Nobodynosjustice managed to clear the lead and cruised home two-and-one-quarter lengths in front to win in 2:04.

SG Goliath King was second and Ganymede Lavec, last year’s two-year-old Champion, was third.

Nobodynosjustice collected his first win in seven starts this season. The gelded son of Justice Hall is trained by Dany Fontaine for owner/breeder Gaetan Bono, Inc. of Montreal and paid $3.40 to win.

Coming up Sunday, July 22 at Hippodrome 3R will be the opening round of the Breeders Cup Series for three-year-old pacing colts and fillies. The series consists of three preliminary rounds with the $65,000 finals on Sunday, Sept. 9.

First-race post time Sunday is 12:50 p.m.
