P H Tornado destroyed a field of Preferred pacers with an 18-length romp at St. John’s Racing and Entertainment Centre on Sunday afternoon

P H Tornado left from Post 3 in the $990 feature event and cruised past panels of :29.3, :59.4 and 1:28.4 before extending his lead to the double-digits and stopping the timer in 2:00.3. Machthemoment (Rod Forward) followed from the pocket for second and Quickcam (Aubrey William) came on for third.

The gelding is now two-for-two this year and ran his win streak up to six. He has won 32 of 70 career starts while banking $108,829 along the way.

The six-year-old son of Grinfromeartoear-Ocean Splash, owned by Clifford Garland of Carbonear, Nfld., provided trainer-driver Scott MacRoberts with his third win of the afternoon.

He paid $5.70 to win as the second choice in the field.

Scott Forward also scored a training triple on the nine-race card.
