CBC Fields Set For Sophomore Fillies

Elusive Desire delivered as expected while Jojo Bingbing scored an upset win in Friday’s pair of $33,304 Canadian Breeders Championship eliminations for three-year-old trotting fillies at Mohawk Racetrack.

Elusive Desire had any easy time of it in the first elimination, making a quarter pole move to the lead and then cruising to a comfortable 1:55.4 win for driver Paul MacDonell. The daughter of Angus Hall - Valley Amber turned back the pocket sitter Friendly Amigo (Blair Burgess) with SOS Respect (Sylvain Filion) rallying to pick up the show spot.

It was Elusive Desire’s fourth win in just seven starts this season and boosted her career earnings to just over $550,000. Michael Keeling does the training for P C Wellwood Enterprises Inc., Charles Armstrong and Robert Fasken of Ontario.

In the second elimination, Jojo Bingbing turned in a gritty first-over effort to post a 22-1 upset in 1:56.4. Mike Saftic engineered the winning trip post five as the daughter of Armbro Nash - Sos Preference turned back Ill Wait For You (Trevor Ritchie) and Warrawee Kava (Sylvain Filion).

It was the second win in five tries this season for the Marcel Barrieau trainee, who is owned by Conrad Leber and Richard Karper of Quebec. The lion’s share of the purse boosted her career earnings to just over $68,000.

The top five finishers from each elimination advanced to the $155,417 Canadian Breeders Championship Final which goes postward as part of Maple Leaf Trot night on Saturday, July 25 at Mohawk. Here is a look at the field in post position order:

Not Enough kept her season’s undefeated streak in tact while Windsong Filou won her second straight in Friday’s two $38,974 Canadian Breeders Championship eliminations for three-year-old pacing fillies at Mohawk Racetrack.

Not Enough, who was making her first start since setting a stakes record in the $680,000 Fan Hanover Final on June 27th, grabbed early control in the first split for driver Luc Ouellette in a :26.3 opening quarter.

Town Pro Series champion My Red High Heels (Randy WapleS) landed in the pocket position and followed the pacesetter through a half in :55.3 and three-quarters in 1:24.3. The top pair took off on the field turning for home with My Red High Heels tipping out to take a shot at the leader but falling a half length short at the finish in 1:52.1. It was another 2-1/2 lengths back to Arts Star (Mark MacDonald) who finished third.

Not Enough, a daughter of Grinfromeartoear - Party Planner is now undefeated in eight starts this season for Tracy Brainard who trains for Bulletproof Enterprises of Boca Raton, Florida. The winner’s share of the purse increased her seasonal earnings to a whopping $671,000.

Windsong Filou used a similar front-end approach in winning the second elimination gate-to-wire for driver Keith Oliver in 1:53.1.

The daughter of Astreos - Jasper Avenue held off the pocket-sitting Coming Late (Randy Waples) with Shacked Up (Luc Ouellette) flying late to pick up third after encountering stalled cover on the final turn.

Windsong Filou, who was coming off an upset win in a $130,000 OSS Gold Final at Georgian Downs, was winning for the second time in nine tries this season for trainer Carl Jamieson who co-owns along with Thomas Kyron, Dr. Michael Wilson and the Lobro Stables of Ontario. Her seasonal earnings now stand at just over $231,000.

The $181,877 Canadian Breeders Championship Final will go postward as part of Maple Leaf Trot night on Saturday, July 25 at Mohawk. Here’s a look at the field in post position order:
