The juvenile pacing fillies take centre stage at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway on Thursday, July 17 with a pair of $18,750 PEI Colt Stakes Gold divisions for two-year-olds on a 14-dash program that kicks off at 6 p.m. (ADT).

The elite fillies are spread across the fourth and seventh races with the rising stars of the Atlantic stakes circuit.

The program also features $9,375 P.E.I. Colt Stakes Grassroots divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies in Races 1, 3, 5, 10 and 12.

In the first $18,750 Gold division, Windemere Skye is top selection from post four with Marc Campbell in the driver’s seat for trainer Earl Watts and owners Windemere Farms and Matt Burke. The filly is from the first crop of former Gold Cup and Saucer champion Somewhere Fancy and she has been perfect so far in her young career winning in 1:57.4 on July 3.

Also in the field are Uptown Tonight (Myles Heffernan Sr.), Alwaysinfullforce (Mike McGuigan), Saulsbrook Desi (Brodie MacPhee) and Going For Blood (Kenny Arsenault).

The Backstretch Beat goes with Windemere Skye to win.

“This daughter of Somewhere Fancy has turned in two absolutely flawless performances to begin her career, including a 1:57.4 lifetime-best effort over Charlottetown. She’s undefeated, sharp, and seemingly unfazed. Top call in the Gold.”

The second Gold split shapes up as a heavyweight showdown with 2024 Atlantic Classic Yearling Sale Topper Saulsbrook Rolo also looking to remain perfect with Marc Campbell in tow. Landon Campbell trains the daughter of Roll With Joe for owner Carl Stafford of Newfoundland & Labrador.

Maid To Play (Ryan Desroche) has rail control and Starship Sundancer (Adam Merner) was also a winner in her career debut. Other entries include Woodmere Summer (Paul Langille), Gias Gem (Ken Murphy) and We Danced Anyway (David Dowling).

The sixth race is the Summerside Toyota Pace with Rosieallover (Desroche) the favourite from the rail in the overnight event. Carson Wilkie of Stratford owns and trains the daughter of Hilarious Halo. Other top entries are Waterford Girl (MacPherson) and MDs Girl (Myles Heffernan Sr.).
