Beyond The Lens In A Shocker

There wasn’t much pari-mutuel love given to Beyond The Lens in Thursday’s ninth race at Rideau Carleton Raceway, but that didn’t stop the gelding from pulling off a monster upset.

With Stephane Brosseau at the controls, Beyond The Lens marched to the lead from Post 5 and led the field through fractions of :29.2, :58.4 and 1:28 before costing home in :31 to win by 4-3/4 lengths over Emotions Riches in 1:59. Fans that backed the Benoit Hebert trainee caught him at huge odds of 75-1. He paid $153.50 to win.

Hebert shares ownership on the three-year-old son of Angus Hall-Candidcamerakosmos with Samuel Hebert and Lea-Rose Lavergne. It was a maiden-breaking score for the upsetter.
