Running Aces’ Saturday night (July 15) program featured the $9,600 Minnesota-Sired Three-Year-Old Pace, and Swinging Again ($9.00) posted a one-length tally in 1:55.2.
The win, which was the filly’s second in a row, came in what was her fourth seasonal start. The Voracious Hanover lass is trained by Gene Miller for owners Wolfswinkel Pacers.
The filly’s regular pilot, James Yoder, was in the bike once again on Saturday. Swinging Again was parked the mile from Post 7, but had plenty of pace in the homestretch to power past the favoured gelding Wonder Bull (driven by Nick Roland), who was forced to settle for second once again.
Also during on the card, Santanna Sam ($48.60) and Driver William Hernandez posted a razor-sharp gate-to-wire score as the longest shots on the board in a $5,400 conditioned pace. Santanna Sam was never in doubt from Post 1 and went on to collect his third win of the season in 1:56.1. The four-year-old Santanna Blue Chip gelding is also trained by Hernandez for owner Maria Alvarez.
Al Mar Reba Babe ($5.20) picked up top honours in the card’s featured trot, a $6,400 conditioned event. Winning driver Gerald Longo settled his five-year-old mare by SOS Lunar Eclipse away in fourth from Post 6 and waited patiently. The duo saved ground all the way around the track and stormed through the passing lane to get the lion’s share of the purse at the wire. The mare won by three quarters of a length in 1:59 for her second victory of the season. She is owned and trained by Richard Davis.
The 20-cent Jackpot Pick 5 went unsolved on Saturday, and the wager now sports a carryover of $10,335.23 for the Sunday (July 16) card. First-race post time is 6 p.m. (CDT).
