’Bouncy Pony’ races have proved to be a hit at raceways across Canada. Drivers, trainers and fans have all enjoyed participating, and now a well-known television personality will be looking to hit the wire first for charity.

Atlantic Grand Circuit Week will run from July 20 – 27 at Truro Raceway. This year, along with all of the exciting harness racing action, Truro Raceway and the Truro Harness Horse Owners Association are pleased to announce that they will be focusing on giving back to the community through fundraising initiatives to support Maggie’s Place.

Maggie’s Place is a non-profit organization that strengthens and enhances the health and social development of children and their families in Cumberland and Colchester Counties. By providing a variety of promotion and prevention services and programs at no cost to families, their aim is to support families through prenatal, infant, early childhood and youth periods. They strive to strengthen partnerships and collaborative activities among families, governments, and service providers.

Truro Raceway and the Truro Harness Horse Owners Association will be holding two Bouncy Pony Stakes on each race card of Atlantic Grand Circuit Week. Win and Exactor tickets will available for purchase on the brave participants that are willing to saddle up and bounce down the stretch, to help out this great cause. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Maggie’s Place, while winning tickets are placed in draws for $25 or $50 betting vouchers. These vouchers have kindly been sponsored by Pye Chevrolet, Wilsons Home Heating, and Harris Home Hardware.

Some of the participants throughout the week will include Jonathan Torrens from the Trailer Park Boys and Mr. D; Cyril Lunney from CTV morning live; Mitch Johnson from the local radio station, as well as drivers, trainers, and grooms. You may also catch a race with Willie Win and Chester The Clown.

Also, on Saturday, July 26, there will be a silent auction held in the grandstand. Items include a Mr. D package which includes an on screen non-speaking role, lunch with Jonathan Torrens, set tour and lots of swag! As well, we have a photography package with Danique Rowsell valued at $350.

Make sure to make your way to Truro Raceway for Atlantic Grand Circuit Week to have a laugh during our Bouncy Pony Stakes and help us support the great work of Maggie’s Place!
