When Acceptable Risk makes the lead he’s one tough customer to catch, and fans at Grand River Raceway caught a glimpse of that on Monday evening in the $11,000 Preferred Handicap.

With Trevor Henry at the helm, Acceptable Risk uncorked big speed right from the word “Go”, and once he cleared to the lead he just kept on rolling. The charismatic veteran whacked out fractions of :26.4, :56 and 1:25 en route to the 1:54 decision. Sent off at odds of 5-1, the Dan Morrissey pupil stepped away from the odds-on, pocket-sitting favourite, Piece Of The Rock, and Amazon Art who rallied for third.

David Morrissey, Dan McCann and William Woodburn share ownership on the nine-year-old son of Intrepid Seelster-Southernbound Lady. The classy veteran, who is now a 55-time winner in his career, improved this year’s record to 9-5-4 from 26 starts. He’s stashed away more than $757,000 in lifetime earnings.

Trainer Wayne Preszcator enjoyed a solid night at the office on Monday evening thanks to a three-win performance on the 12-race card.

Sharelife got the ball rolling for Preszcator thanks to his 1:57.1 tally in Race 2. The newcomer to the stable, who was sent off at odds of 15-1, went wire-to-wire from Post 7 for driver Tyler Moore.

Next up was Willies Place, who turned a two-hole trip into a neck decision in 1:54.2 for driver Trevor Henry. The five-year-old son of Artsplace used a :28.3 final frame to win by a neck. He was sent off as the 4-5 choice.

Preszcator’s final winner was the classy veteran, Secret Weapon. The 10-year-old son of Western Hanover flipped off cover in the lane and used a :27.4 final quarter to get up in the closing strides to prevail in a three-horse photo for win. Time for the mile was 1:54.4.

To date, Preszcator has sent out more than 800 winners while winning in excess of $7 million in purses.
