See You At Peelers was sensational as she extended her undefeated win streak to 20 in a wild $127,000 Tarport Hap for three-year-old pacing fillies contested on the Meadowlands Pace undercard Saturday night at the Meadowlands
Racetrack.
Making her only scheduled Big M appearance of the season, the unstoppable See You At Peelers left from Post 7 and took command of the field, which was reduced to 10 pacing fillies with the scratch of Emilios Stride. After travelling wide around the first turn, Brian Sears and the heavy 1-5 favourite cleared the lead past the :27-second opening quarter and reached the half in :55.
Krispy Apple (Tim Tetrick) advanced first over and edged ahead as they neared three-quarters in 1:23.3, but drifted wide and lost that lead leaving See You At Peelers in control once again. Idyllic (David Miller) made a late dash for the cash in the stretch, but put in a few steps and lost her momentum when Miller touched her with the whip. Minding her manners, the perfect See You At Peelers hit the wire in 1:51 for the triumph. Idyllic held on for second and Whats New Pussycat (George Brennan) finished third.
"They took some good shots at her tonight," said Sears. "Timmy's horse [Krispy Apple] acted like she wanted to pull up on that last turn and Dave [Miller and Idyllic] came at her strong and just happened to go offstride. My mare was pacing hard right to the wire so I've got no complaints."
The sensational daughter of Bettors Delight-West Side Glory, who boasts $1,281,179 in career earnings, is trained by Jimmy Takter for owners Christina Takter of East Windsor, New Jersey and John and Jim Fielding of Toronto, Ont.
"There's a lot of good horses and this is basically all the best fillies in one spot," said Takter. "I knew it wouldn't be easy. She had to work hard to get to the half and she worked it out."
Takter said he has not yet decided what's next for 'Peelers' but she could be heading back to Yonkers, where she beat the boys in the Art Rooney in June, in 10 or 11 days.
"It's nice to continue the winning streak, that's great for us," he added. "To have a filly like this to show off for the crowd is special."
See You At Peelers paid $2.20 to win.
The undercard action continued with Manofmanymissions and Chapter Seven each taking a $166,000 division of the Stanley Dancer Memorial for three-year-old trotters.
The Erv Miller-trained Manofmanymissions and driver Andy Miller advanced from last to first and opened up six and a quarter lengths to seal the deal in the first elimination. He earned a new mark of 1:52.1 while pulling off a 13-1 upset. Broad Bahn (George Brennan) finished second with Dejarmbro (Trond Smedshammer) third.
Manofmanymissions paid $29 to win. The son of Yankee Glide-Armbro Vanquish is owned by Manofmanymissions Stable, Mystical Marker Farms LLC and M Biasuzzi Stable Inc. Last year’s Breeders Crown champion is now two-for-four this year.
Making his sophomore debut, Chapter Seven and Mike Lachance edged out pacesetter Big Rigs (Tim Tetrick) in the second division for the 1:53.1 victory. Big Sky Storm (David Miller) finished over three lengths behind in third.
Chapter Seven paid $3.80 to win was the bettor’s choice. The son of Windsongs Legacy-La Riviera Lindy, who won seven of eight starts as a two-year-old, is owned by Richard Gutnick, Gary Cocco, Southwind Farm and Jerry Silva.
Pirouette Hanover set a stakes record for freshman filly pacers and Mr Vic and I Fought Dalaw stayed unbeaten in the freshman colt trotting and pacing ranks highlighting four New Jersey Sire Stakes Night of Champions races worth $700,000 in purses at the Meadowlands Racetrack Saturday night.
Pirouette Hanover, a filly by Western Ideal, set a New Jersey Sires Stakes record of 1:51.1 to win the $175,00 two-year-old filly pace. The time eclipsed the previous mark of 1:52.3 set by Ace Of Pace on July 10, 2010. The Jeffrey Snyder-owned and Ed Hart-trained Pirouette Hanover paid $6.40 to win. Notreadytobenice, a daughter of Western Ideal, who won both her NJSS starts, was second with Blackjack Princess third.
Ron Pierce guided Pirouette Hanover sweeping the filly to the top after a blistering opening half duel between My Deal and Ive Got A Feeling. Pirouette Hanover had also won a preliminary leg of the Sire Stakes.
Vic Smith, a colt by Yankee Glide, made it a perfect three-for-three in the New Jersey Sire Stakes when he won the $175,000 final for two-year-old colt and gelding trotters in 1:56.1, a career best.
Andy Miller drove the undefeated freshman, who also won in 1:57.3 and 1:57.4 in two preliminary legs of the New Jersey Sire Stakes. Big Chocolate was second and Easy As You Go third in a race marred by breaks, including one by Little Brown Fox in the stretch as he attempted to catch Vic Smith.
Vic Smith is owned by the Andy Miller Racing Stable and Baron Racing Stable, and trained by Julie Miller. Vic Smith paid $7 to win. Big Chocolate was second with Easy As You Go third. Megamuscle was scratched lame.
David Miller guided I Fought Dalaw, a Western Ideal colt, to the lead just prior to the half and then held on in a photo finish over the Tim Tetrick-guided Pet Rock to win the $175,000 final for two-year-old colt and gelding pacers. Finishing third was Time To Roll.
Owned by Shannon DePinto, Michael Parisi and Jerry Silva, the win for I Fought Dalaw kept the colt a perfect three-for-three in his brief career. He returned $9 to win.
Upside Hanover, a filly by Muscles Yankee, captured the $175,000 two-year-old filly trot with Brian Sears at the controls in 1:57.4, holding off the late kick of Chilitodayhotamale with Vanity Treasure finishing third.
Upside Hanover, owned by the Hero Stables and trained by Robert Krivelin, earned her first victory and is now pointed to the Merrie Annabelle. Upside Hanover returned $6.80 to win.
