There is a new leader in Hanover Raceway's qualifying tournament for the $25,000 Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship

Merry Francis of Hanover, Ont. jumped from fifth place to take over the lead with $104.70. Close behind her is Perle Breadner of Markdale, Ont. with $91.90 points, Don Richards of Tara, Ont. is third with $91.60. Merv Rooney of Arthur, Ont. is currently fourth with $90.30. Last week’s leader, John Dametto of Guelph, Ont., fell to fifth place with $87.60.
There are just two more Wednesday’s left in the contest which has over 100 participants.
The top five will win prizes. The overall winner will advance to the $25,000 Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship in Ottawa at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Leg Two of Slots Cup Elims Drawn
On Saturday, July 18, Hanover Raceway will host the second leg of the Slots Cup eliminations.
A pair of divisions for three and four-year-old pacers will go postward chasing a $12,000 purse. The first split (Race 2) includes Monster In Law (PP2, A. Carroll, 2-1), which triumphed in the opening leg at Western Fair in 1:55.
First race post time on Saturday night is 7:15 p.m., and HPI members can wager on Hanover's live product. The live video stream can be accessed here.
