Track Record For Double L Hot Trap

Soon-to-be Hall of Famer Keith Clark was not the only one on fire Wednesday night at Grande Prairie

. His pupil, Double L Hot Trap blazed her way to a 2:01.1 track record for two-year-old filly pacers.

Clark began his training triple in the second race with Double L Hot Trap, who left from the rail and carved out fractions of :30.4, 1:01.1 and 1:32.1 en route to the record books. The homebred Ludwigpanbeethoven - One Hot Lady filly sprinted home in a final quarter of :29-seconds to win by two and quarter lengths over fan favourite Gotta Promise (driven by Brandon Campbell) and Ashley Rocks (Bill Tainsh, Jr.).

Owned by Oronzo and Lillian Panaro of Edmonton, Alta., Double L Hot Trap won for the first time in her second career start.

Clark’s Camystic colt, Dreamway Cruiser, also broke his maiden with a 2:02.2 score in Race 4 and Shouldabeensam , a three-year-old Riverboat King gelding, won for the second time in his career three races later in a career-best 1:56.2. The resident of De Winton, Alta. now has 82 training triumphs on the year with close to $500,000 in purses earnings. The winner of 3,317 races has banked over $20.2 million over the course of his career.

Clark also guided the Lance Ward trained Red Star Ginny (1:58) to victory in Race 10.
