Riding cover behind a fast pace set by Nirvana Seelster, Continual Hanover kicked by rivals to take the $30,000 featured pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday, July 14 in 1:49.2.
Nirvana Seelster shot to the top, leading the field through a :26.1 quarter and a :54.3 half. Rockin In Heaven, from third, pulled first over passing the half, tracked by Shades Of Bay second over and Continual Hanover third over. Closing in on Nirvana Seelster, Rockin In Heaven took the lead following a 1:21.3 third-quarter.
Rockin In Heaven held a half-length lead into the stretch while Continual Hanover edged off cover and Shades Of Bay stalled tipping wide. Continual Hanover sprinted by Rockin In Heaven to post a one-and-a-half length win. Rockin In Heaven held second from Velocity Driven closing into third.
A five-year-old gelding by Bettors Delight out of the Western Ideal mare Current Hanover, Continual Hanover, owned by Vogel And Wags Nags Stable, Jack Rice and Pine Hill Racing Limited, won his seventh race in 19 starts and his 23rd in 71 overall, earning $348,050. Bob McClure drove the Jeff Gillis trainee who paid $13.60 to win.
