It was announced earlier this week that the Stronach Group’s purchase of Rosecroft Raceway has been approved. Via press release, the Stronach Group has also said that it intends to grow Standardbred racing.
The Maryland Jockey Club granted its approval of the sale on Tuesday, July 12 via a unanimous vote, according to an article by The Baltimore Sun.
The Stronach Group has said that it plans to upgrade the facility when the sale in finalized in the coming weeks.
In its statement on the sale, the Stronach Group said that it is “particularly interested in growing Standardbred racing, which has a long and storied history in Maryland.”
