Four divisions of New York Sire Stakes for sophomore pacing fillies were the highlight of Saturday night's 12-race card at Tioga Downs.
Posting the fastest mile of the night was Silk Pajamas with Jimmy Marohn Jr. in the bike for trainer Ron Burke. The two-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight–Silksanddiamonds left the gate from post five and settled in second as Jetta Blue Chip (Howard Parker) cut through an opening quarter of :27.3. The pair then raced in order through fractions of :57.2 and 1:26.3 before pulling out of the two-hole around the final turn to challenge in the lane. In the stretch, Marohn and Silk Pajamas easily drew clear of the field for the victory in 1:54.4.
Other division winners included Joys Choice and Jeff Gregory (1:55.1); Give Me An Amen and Gregory (1:55.2); and Summertime Lea with Jim Marohn Jr. (1:55.1).
Sean Bier celebrated a career milestone on Saturday night at Tioga Downs when he earned his 2,000th career win in the 12th and final race with Smashing Revue.
Tioga Downs continues live racing on Sunday, July 15 at 1:30 pm and will feature a free Aaron Kelly concert following live racing.
