According to a report, Minnesota thoroughbred raceway Canterbury Park has said that it is hoping to salvage its racing meet this coming Thursday, after a tentative state budget agreement was reached Friday

.

“The governor’s announcement was very helpful because we were really, really right at the point where quite a few people said if nothing happens this weekend we’re going to have to pack up,” Canterbury Park President Randy Sampson was quoted as saying. “If this deal comes together we’re going to be okay for completing the meet.”

The report states that even though a budget resolution has been met, the track will still pursue its expanded gaming initiative.

Running Aces Harness Park, for standardbeds, has also been pushing for a racino at its location.
