Twenty-One To Maple Leaf Trot Elims

Yesterday, the race office at Mohawk Racetrack drew the eliminations for the Maple Leaf Trot, which will be contested Saturday, July 18. A total of 21 horses have been housed into a trio of seven-horse elims

, each worth $50,000. The $730,000 (estimated) final for the older performers will be contested July 25 over the Campbellville oval.

The elims have been carded as Races 2, 3 and 6.

The first of the elims will feature divisional star Lucky Jim (PP7, A. Miller), the four-year-old SJs Photo gelding which is undefeated in 14 starts this season and banked over $511,000 during that streak. Armbro Chronicle (PP6, M. Saftic), an O'Brien Award finalist in 2008, will also mix it up in the opener, as will European invader Amour Ami (PP2, J. Moiseyev).

Having impressed at the Woodbine Entertainment Group's highest trotting ranks so far this season, Ben Baillargeon-trained Sakic Seelster (PP3, M. Baillargeon) will contest the second elim. Misterizi (PP7, Ri. Zeron) will fire out from the outside starting spot, while another European invader, Triton Sund (PP6, J. Sjunnesson), will be looking to make the trip worthwhile.

The third elim will see 2008 O'Brien Award winner Arch Madness (PP7, T. Smedshammer) leave from the outer starting spot and lock up with Duke Of York gelding Define The World (PP6, P. MacDonell) and the last of the European invaders, Glen Kronos (PP1, L. Ouellette).
