Community Day At Mohawk Coming Up

Published: July 15, 2009 12:21 pm EDT

Mohawk Racetrack will host its annual Community Day on Saturday, July 25 beginning at 5:00 p.m. This year the event coincides with the $730,000 Maple Leaf Trot.

"These two events happening on the same night is great for our fans," says Jane Holmes, Woodbine Entertainment Group's vice president of Corporate Affairs. "We invite everyone who lives in the Halton community to visit Mohawk, enjoy an exciting program of standardbred racing and meet the representatives from the service and charitable groups that keep our community healthy and safe."

"I would like to thank Woodbine Entertainment and Mohawk Racetrack for engaging community participants in this event to help promote a safe, livable and healthy community," said Milton mayor Gordon Krantz.

The fun starts at 5:00 p.m. There will be music, pony rides and face painting for the kids, and a wide array of interesting displays, including Child Find of Ontario who will be on-track with their KIDCHECK safety program, which includes a personal safety booklet for children including their fingerprints, photo and information.

Also promoting child safety will be the volunteers from the St. John's Ambulance that will educate the public on the correct way to install a child's car seat.

WEG would like to thank the following community partners for their support of Mohawk's Community Day:

• Children's Wish Foundation of Canada
