Can Therealprincess Continue Perfection?

Published: July 14, 2022 11:16 am EDT

There has been nothing standing in the way of Therealprincess so far in 2022 and that record will again go to the test on Friday evening (July 15) during Governor’s Plate Week racing at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The Prince County, P.E.I. half-miler has 13 dashes on tap, featuring the Atlantic Sires Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies, starting off at 6:30 p.m.

Therealprincess is the top choice in her $15,620 Atlantic Sires Stakes A division for three-year-old pacing fillies in Race 8 with Corey MacPherson aboard the Eddy Doucette trainee for Kensington, P.E.I. owners Blaine Thibeau, Grant Mann and Gordon MacLeod in partnership with Doucette. The Source Of Pride lass has been unbeaten in four starts so far in 2022 including a 1:54.3 season’s best at the Truro Raceway in Nova Scotia during the first leg of the Atlantic Sires Stakes. Her top rivals are slated as rail sitter West River Glo (to be driven by Clare MacDonald) and Cougar On A Terr (Danny Gillis).

The "Backstretch Beat" puts Therealprincess as the most probable winner on the night: “How’s Therealprincess’ season going so far? She’s a perfect four-for-four and has wins at three different tracks. We’re wagering Corey will be aggressive off the wings and, if they do get to boss it, get ready for a Red Shores high five.”

The other $15,620 A division lines up in Race 10 with Malice Intent the top choice for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Danny Romo from post six. Owned by Ian Banks, Ernest Gilhen and Tom Hawco in partnership with Romo, the daughter of Malicious has banked over $11,000 so far in 2022 but looks for her first win of the season. Her chief rivals are programmed as Orrsterror (Gilles Barrieau) and Tobins Diva (MacPherson).

The Colin ‘Coke’ Grady Memorial is in Race 5 and Mermaid Magic is picked to win the $1,850 event for driver Mark Bradley, trainer Tom Weatherbie and owners Ian Smith and David Kennedy.

Race 7 is the David Stevenson Memorial with Ironside Seelster the top choice from post five in the $2,450 overnight class with Jason Hughes in the bike for trainer Duane MacEachern and owners Darla and Zoey MacEachern.

Mile Hill Willie has post one in the Race 11 Andrew Perry Invitational Trot with $3,000 on the line. Paul Morrison co-owns and trains the Armbro Barrister six-year-old with John Breau of New Brunswick. The field of seven also includes Sailor Blue (Ken Murphy) and Freddie (Campbell).
