Update On Tony Kerwood

After being sidelined since the end of February, Trot Insider has learned that driver Tony Kerwood could return to Ontario's racing scene within a month's time.

Both Kerwood and driver Mike Dowling were unseated during a multiple-horse accident on Wednesday, February 22 accident at Flamboro Downs. Kerwood sustained a fracture to one of the vertebras in his neck as well as a couple of smaller fractures in his lower back. For months he was unable to turn his head but after starting physiotherapy, he's now able to turn his head and is eager to return to the track. Kerwood is aiming for an early August return.

According to driver Travis Bowman, donation jars in Kerwood's name are located at the Georgian Downs' kitchen, Kawartha Downs' race office and Flamboro Downs' paddock office.

Kerwood, who resides in Campbellville, Ont., has driven 4,673 winner over his long and successful harness racing career, with horses earning more than $56 million lifetime.
