When it came to winning Monday’s Governor’s Plate elimination at Summerside Raceway, it was just a question of “how fast?” and “by how many?” for Outlawpositivcharge, who destroyed the seven foes he squared off with
.
Leading right from the word “Go”, the five-year-old son of Blissfull Hall-Electromagnetic sped the field through panels of :27.4, :57.4 and 1:27 before unleashing a punishing final frame clocked in :27.4 en route to the 1:54.4 decision for trainer/driver Terry “Rubber Ducky” Gallant. Riccaras Sun was second, Pans O Silver finished third and Gemstone rounded grabbed fourth prize, which was good enough to earn him the final qualifying spot for the final.
Fred Lamont of Calgary, Alberta holds the papers on Outlawpositivcharg, who will be looking to defend his Governor’s Plate Title. The defending champ was a 1:55.1 winner in last year’s edition. The 20-time winner is quickly closing in on the $80,000 mark in lifetime earnings.
Outlawpositivcharg will square off with the likes of Astronomical, who was an easy winner in his elimination this past Sunday at Summerside Raceway. Both pacers will clash in the 41st edition of the Governor’s Plate, which goes for a purse of $16,000 this Saturday evening.
Earlier on the program, Abby Best was just as dominant when she rolled to a going away victory in the second elimination for the Open Mares. Kenny Arsenault guided the eight-year-old Cambest mare to a 1:57.1 score for owner/trainer Angus MacLean of Port Hood, Nova Scotia.
She tracked cover in the last half of the mile, and used an explosive three-wide move to grab the lead just past the three-quarter pole. She used :28.3 closing speed to notch the win over Princess Julia, Unfluffnbelievable and Southview Angie. They’ll join the top four finishers from this past Sunday’s first elimination in this Saturday evening’s final.
