Imelda Hanover overtook the tiring leader in deep stretch and went on to collect her third straight win in Thursday’s (July 13) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,000 filly and mare conditioned pace.
Calliope Hanover seized the point with a backside burst and opened a seemingly safe lead. But when Imelda Hanover, who had been gaining ground steadily for Dan Charlino after getting away seventh, saw Calliope Hanover weakening, she pounced on the opportunity and defeated Calliope Hanover by a half length in 1:52.4. Bettorbytheseaside completed the ticket.
Ron Burke trains Imelda Hanover, a three-year-old daughter of Sweet Lou-Ideal Newton, for Burke Racing Stable, J&T Silva Stables, Larry Karr and Phillip Collura.
