The betting public was in love with Toot Toot N in Monday’s $8,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers at Grand River Raceway, and the gelding won convincingly for Team Hensley.
Toot Toot N was looped early by Artistic Pick, but Ed Hensley swept to the top at the quarter pole in :27.4 with Toot Toot N. Once in command, the veteran rolled the field through middle splits of :58.2 and 1:27.1 before using a :28-second final frame to win by 2-3/4 lengths over American Risk in 1:55.1. Third prize went to Artistic Pick.
Trainer Ashleigh Hensley and Ed Hensley share ownership on the nine-year-old son of Gotta Go Cullen-Transportiamidfrew who now boasts a 2020 record of 4-1-1 from 12 starts. The 31-time winner has banked $214,354 to date.
