It has been reported that Ocean Downs will next week ask for permission from the state of Maryland to cancel its 2010 live race dates

.

According to a report by The Daily Record, the request follows a series of delays in the construction of a racino gaming area at the track which would house slot machines.

The article goes on to say that the request to cancel the dates has come over the course of the past couple of months, and that the track's automated phone system says that the dates have been cancelled.

The report cites Maryland Racing Commission Executive Director Mike Hopkins as saying that the cancellation of the season would cost the state roughly $100,000 in revenue.
