'Lilac' Goes Back To Back For Charity

Racing for the Boys and Girls Club of Truro and Colchester, Barona Lilac earned her second victory this month in Sunday's top class at Truro Raceway.

Driven by Ryan Ellis, Barona Lilac was a 1:57.4 gate-to-wire winner in the afternoon's $1,375 ninth dash. Watersides Kipper crossed the wire in second, but was placed sixth for causing interference to a pair of horses during the race. Arizona Bucks inherited the runner-up role and Micrometerjack was bumped to third due to the judges' placing.

As part of the 'Cheering for Charity' event, which is sponsored by Meridian Farms and Truro Raceway, Barona Lilac's earnings (up to $1,000) will be donated to a new charity each month.

Darren Crowe trains the five-year-old pacing mare, who already has two wins and a third-place finish to start the month.
