Northside Plays Host To ATSS

Northside Downs played host to Atlantic Sires Stakes three-year-old pacing colts Saturday afternoon and Porthill Gatsby and Stars Xample were the big winners of the day

at the North Sydney oval.

Porthill Gatsby, with driver Ryan Ellis in the bike, won the first Atlantic Sires Stakes "A" division event of the day in a time of 1:58.1. The three-year-old colt is trained and co-owned by Sandy Baird of Trenton, NS. Ownership is also shared with Sonya Baird and Clifford Garland of Carbonear, NL. Taking the second and third spots respectively were War Dancer and Urge To Win.

The second "A" division event of the day went to Stars Xample in a time of 1:57.3 for trainer/driver Terry Gallant. The brown pacing colt is owned by Catherine MacNeil of Glace Bay, NS. Woodmere Fastball took the place spot and third went to Nu Xample.

Both Atlantic Sires Stakes "A" events went for a purse of $10,700.

Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action continues July 14 -18, as harness racing action heats up at the Summerside Raceway during Lobster Carnival Week celebrations.
