Trainer-driver Kelly Hoerdt had the hot hands at Century Downs on Sunday (July 11) as he steered three of his pupils to victory while visiting the winner’s circle on three other occasions.
Hoerdt guided his pupil Watch Me Boogie ($28.00) to an open-length victory for his first win on the afternoon from his barn. Towards the tail of the card, he bagged back-to-back races when rallying Codename Cigar Box ($6.50) to a win along with Good Day Is Coming ($11.60).
As a catch driver, Hoerdt’s six pack began in the second half of the early double when he drove Nevada Vacation ($5.30) to a gate-to-wire score as the favourite. He followed that win with a pocket-popping score by Cenalta Sunrise ($16.60) and nabbed his third out-of-barn victory in wire-to-wire fashion with Outlaw Sharktastic ($3.30).
