Rosiemunn and driver Howard Parker captured Thursday’s $6,000 featured fillies & mares pace at Vernon Downs, and they did so in front-stepping fashion.
Rosiemunn ($6.10) took the lead to a first quarter of :27.2. Beyonces Rockn (Jennifer Lappe) followed in the pocket second with Unusual Clarity (Joe Nassimos) was next in third. Rosiemunn continued to carve out the fractions as she was first to the half in :58.1 and led to three-quarters in 1:27.1.
Rosiemunn , who is owned and trained by Kerin Warner, led as the hit the top of the stretch. Unusual Clarity went first-over and gave chase. As they reached deep stretch Unusual Clarity gave one last charge but Rosiemunn dug in to win in 1:54.3. Unusual Clarity settled for second with Beyonces Rockn finishing third.
Rosiemunn is a five-year-old mare by Dream Away. It was her fifth win this season. She now has 12 career victories.
Howard Parker drove two winners on the night. His other win came with Pudges Pastime ($8.20). Leon Bailey trained and drove two winners on the night combining with owners Donn Lewandrowski and Gail Farrell. Their wins came with Artic Belle ($9.60) and Tiger Boudoir ($30.80).
Bad I Am (Fern Paquet, Jr.) won the $4,000 Peter J. Marshall Memorial Race. The eight-year-old gelding by Prayer I Am is owned by trainer John Hallet and Michelle Oglesby. Bad I Am paid $11.60 for the win
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday with a 10 race card starting at 6:10 p.m.
