After a narrow miss from the pocket on Sunday (July 8), 12-year-old veteran Doubleshotascotch ($3.70) dug in late for third win in four starts already this month in Wednesday's (July 11) $1,050 top-level pacing feature at Inverness Raceway.
Ryan Campbell put the Dragon Again gelding in play from post 5 straight away, and the pair controlled fractions of :29.3, 1:00.1 and 1:30.2. After shrugging off a mild first-over challenge from Bonnys Mac (Lanny Hanscombe), Doubleshotascotch dug in to parry a late threat from pocket rival Shanghai B G (Alex MacQuarrie) in 1:59.4. Makes Me Stupid (Rodney Gillis) lifted off cover from last to take third, missing by only a quarter of a length.
Trainer John MacDonald owns Doubleshotascotch, who notched the 43rd win of his career.
