Veteran horseman Donnie Rankin, Jr. put on a driving clinic at Dresden Raceway on Sunday afternoon thanks to a five-win performance at the half-mile oval
.
Rankin was kept out of the winner’s circle in the first three races, but he pretty much owned it from that point on. He got the ball rolling with Paidmedorayme (2:04.2) in Race 4 and returned the very next race with Billy Madison (1:59.1).
A gate-to-wire score with Itsanadorablelife (2:00.3) in Race 7 completed the hat trick for Rankin, who tacked on wins with Must Be Matt (1:56.3) in Race 10 and Majestic Place (1:57.2) in Race 12 to push his overall win total to five on the matinee program.
Rankin, a career winner of 4,218 races and purses in excess of $16 million, has already won 107 races this season and more than $545,000 in purse earnings.
