A :28.2 final quarter was just enough of a closing kick for All Canadian Mjjz to circle past foes and take home the top prize in the Sunday feature at Alberta Downs

.

With Rod Starkewski at the controls, All Canadian Mjjz got away next to last in the six-horse affair, while the opening quarter of :27.4 was served up compliments of Stonebridge Lyric (Kelly Hoerdt). Clintons Escape (Keith Clark) was parked past the quarter pole, but he sprinted to the top in front of the grandstand and led the field to the mid-way point in :57.1.

He was still in command at the three quarter pole in 1:25.1, but Campasser (Brandon Campbell) was in hot pursuit from first over. Those two held their positions at the top of the stretch, and All Canadian Mjjz had moved from fifth to third. His final quarter brush earned him the half-length score over Campasser in 1:54.2, with race favourite Clintons Escape finishing a well-beaten third.

The gelded son of Allamerican Native-Sliced Thin, who was sent off at odds of 7-1, is owned by Starkewski and partner Larry Thomas of Edmonton, AB. The victory improved his 2010 record to 3-3-7 in 14 attempts, and the lion’s share of the purse lifted his lifetime earnings to $38,802.
