This past Saturday night (July 7), Kawartha Downs hosted its ‘Owner of the Night’ promotion, which was sponsored by Rallis Burger Family Restaurant.
Race 7 was the designated race, and it was won by the James Green-trained and Clarke Steacy-driven Sir Galahad. The gelding’s win meant that Ron Cambridge was the promotion’s lucky winner.
Nine lucky customers, from ballots drawn, were given a complete backstretch tour and got to meet Sir Galahad, Steacy, Green and Sir Galahad’s groom.
Cash prizes were given out to the top five finishers in the promotion. Those that finished sixth through ninth received KD hats.
All whom took part in the promotion said it was an experience that they will never forget. Additionally, a huge crowd and great weather contributed to a very successful night of racing at the Peterborough-area oval.
Kawartha Downs will be celebrating its 46th anniversary this coming Saturday (July 14).
There will be live music with the ‘Elderly Brothers’ and cake for all racing fans.
