Giroux, Gagnon Dominate At Rideau

Trainer Sebastian Giroux had his Sunday starters on point at Rideau Carleton Raceway scoring five times during the evening's 15-race program

Giroux teamed up with Rideau's leading driver Guy Gagnon for four wins with five-year-old Striking Sahbra gelding Vincenne ($4.20), eight-year-old Chief Litigator gelding Sos Poweroflove ($2.80), four-year-old Shanghai Phil gelding Dr Thrill ($4.40), a winner of seven of his last eight starts, and five-year-old Camluck mare Cruiser Hudson ($6.60). With Gord Brown in the bike, Giroux also won with eight-year-old D M Dilinger gelding Armadilo ($3.70), a winner of four of his last five starts.

Giroux has recorded 80 wins this year to crack Canada’s top 10 list of trainers and 742 over the course of his career. With his .411 training average, Giroux ranks third in Canada behind Rene Allard and Per Henriksen.

Gagnon also scored with his own pupil, seven-year-old Omar Khayam gelding Mistervolare ($15.90), to bring his win total for the day to five. Gagnon has also cracked the top 10 list of drivers in Canada this year with his 140 victories.
