Euchred dug down deep and dominated Friday’s $1,700 feature race at Inverness Raceway, and in doing so the classy veteran extended his winning streak to two in a row.
With trainer Walter Walker at the lines, Euchred got away in the pocket spot early while Betterthanbutter marched to the top and had the field chasing him past the opening quarter in :28.1.
Euchred, who was sent off as the 6-5 favourite, drew clear to win by 4-1/4 lengths over Betterthanbutter, with This Old Millie rallying to grab the show dough. Time for the mile was 1:58.4.
Kayla Habitch Walker owns the 10-year-old son of Shadow Play-Tipsy Taters, who improved his 2022 record to 2-1-0 from four attempts with the win. The 71-time winner recently surpassed $150,000 in career earnings.
