Fanning off cover rounding the final turn, You Talk Too Much propelled to the front and maintained control over her late challengers to take the $50,000 Meridian Farms Breeders’ Stake at Century Downs in 1:56.3 on Sunday, July 1.

Pez Dispenser set the pace with a :27.3 opening quarter on the lead. Custard Lite, the 5/2 favourite, pulled first over from third moving to the half and drew within a half-length of the lead through a :57 clocking.

You Talk Too Much, parked from the start, moved to catch the favourite’s cover and raced second over moving to three-quarters. Driver Phil Giesbrecht tipped You Talk Too Much three wide as Custard Lite took a narrow lead in 1:26.2. You Talk Too Much overtook the favourite and opened a three-length lead into the stretch, which Blue Grotto cut down to one length at the wire to grab second while Bearcat Josi closed to finish third.

A three-year-old filly by Well Said out of the Art Major mare Another Hanover, You Talk Too Much, owned by Robert T. Jones and trainer Keith Clark, won her first race in 10 starts this season and her 4th in 19 overall, earning $76,242. She paid $11.80 to win.

Soph colts contested in the $50,000 Brad Gunn Breeders’ Stakes to cap the Sunday program, with Cheddar Jack taking his competition wire to wire in 1:54.3.

The gelding by Betterthancheddar from the Artsplace mare Bababababarbarapan took control from post 1 and led mostly uncontested through fractions of :27.4, :57.4 and 1:26.1. Yankee Up made a move first over at the half but faltered moving into the final turn.

Custards Laststand, racing three wide and circumventing stalled horses, finished three lengths back in second with Exit Smiling, from second over, finishing third.
