Memumsnotnice Matches Clinton Record

Three-year-old filly pacer Memumsnotnice turned in a dazzling 1:55.2 track record equalling performance in the $76,400 Kin Pace during the Canada Day harness racing program at Clinton Raceway on Sunday afternoon.

The Kin Pace is for Ontario-sired three-year-old pacing fillies that are non-winners of $75,000 in 2011.

Fresh off a pair of wire-to-wire victories in an Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots division on June 17 at Rideau Carleton Raceway and in the Kin Pace elimination round at Clinton last week, Memumsnotnice went straight to the front once again and never looked back. With driver Sylvain Filion in tow, she took control of the eight-horse field from post five and carved out fractions of :27.2, :56.1 and 1:26 en route to a seven length triumph in 1:55.2. Silky Britches and driver J Harris followed along in the two-hole to finish second while Sauble Claire and Trevor Henry came on from the backfield to show. The other elimination winners, Jet Speed and Jason Brewer, finished fourth. Bruisers Sister and James MacDonald earned the final paycheque in fifth.

The winning time matched Quiteasassybanana's divisional track record, which was sent in her 2009 Kin Pace elimination prior to winning the final.

Memumsnotnice paid $4 to win as the even-money favourite. Corey Johnson trains the Jeremes Jet-Bunny Town miss for owners Colin Johnson of Le Gardeur, Que., Gilles Caouette of Garson, Ont., Claude Baril of Mascouche, Que., and Fred Brayford of Alliston, Ont.

Purchased for $15,000 at the 2010 Canadian Yearling Sale, Memumsnotnice has banked $129,560 to date for her connections. Last year's Grassroots Championship runner-up now boasts six wins, two seconds and four thirds on her lifetime record from 15 starts.
