Cuzzin Mimi showed no mercy to the foes she squared off with in a $6,700 tilt at Alberta Downs on Thursday afternoon, with the end result being a track record clocking
of 1:53.3.
In rein to trainer/driver Jamie Gray, Cuzzin Mimi sat just off the pace through early fractions of :27.4, :57 and 1:24.4. When Gray called on her to sprint she had no problem hitting another gear, and when she did she unleashed a :28.2 closing panel to post the four-length decision in 1:53.3. Weareverigo was second best and Charm N Wits rounded out the top three finishers.
Gray shares ownership on the speedy distaffer with Stanley Blustein of Edmonton and Shawn Blustein of Sherwood Park, Alberta. It was her first win of the season after going 5-for-12 last year. She has banked more than $61,000 to date.
Evidently, the 1:53.3 track record performance erased the former mark of 1:53.4 set by Second Fancy on June 26, 2010.
