Screen Test put the finishing touches on a driving triple for Corey MacPherson in the Sunday afternoon (June 9) feature at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
MacPherson tussled with Woodmere Ideal Art past a :28.1 first quarter before clearing to the lead with Screen Test in the $2,900 Preferred Pace. Screen Test continued past a :57 half and 1:25.4 third quarter and gained a two-and-three-quarter length lead on the wire to stop the clock in 1:55. Soccer Hanover finished second while newcomer Down On My Luck advanced first over to finish third. Screen Test is trained by Stephen Gass for owners Kickin Horse Stable of York and William Andrew of Calgary, Alta.
MacPherson’s other victories came with Adventure Luck in 2:00 for Robert Williams of Ellerslie and with Souverain in a 1:58.2 romp for Phil Sizer of Kensington.
Spence also scored three wins on the day including the $2,400 fillies and mares top class with Woodmere Finesse stopping the clock in 1:56.3. Jeff Lilley trains Woodmere Finesse for owner Ted Maher.
Trainer Paul Biggar of Tyne Valley supplied the start and finish of Spence’s triple as Howmac Magic had a 2:00 victory in Race 2 and Mando Fun was a 1:57.1 victor in Race 6 for a $2,400 purse.
