More On Leamington Fair Races

It was recently announced that the Leamington Fair will host an afternoon card of live harness racing on Saturday, June 20. Trot Insider has now learned that the program will include a memorial race for a well-known local figure that recently passed away.

It came as a shock when Leamington councillor Rick Atkin recently passed away. His sudden passing has resonated with many in the community.

Atkin, who was a well-liked and very hard working individual, was also active in the harness racing community. Officials with Leamington have told Trot Insider that there will be a memorial race for Atkin during the June 20 card

The Leamington Fair has hosted live racing as far back as 1902 and officials are eagerly waiting to put on another great show.

Leamington’s June 20 program is scheduled to kick off with a 1 p.m. first-race post time.

Racing at the fair is being sponsored and run by the Leamington District Agricultural Society. Officials have also told Trot Insider that Ian Fleming will be the race secretary.
