Resistance Futile and Bestulldotanite were sent off as the favourites in their respective Preferred assignments Tuesday evening at Georgian Downs, and both managed to come through on their pari-mutuel promises to the betting public.

First up was Resistance Futile in the $11,000 Preferred 2 for horses and geldings. Taylor Burgess worked out a covered-up trip for the five-year-old son of Real Desire-Capelo, who watched Brocks Fortune supply the field with splits of :27.4, :57.2 and 1:25.2. Resistance Futile made a three-wide move going to the three-quarter pole, and his :27.4 kicker helped him post the win by one-quarter of a length over Cluster Hanover in 1:53.2. Third prize went to Brocks Fortune.

Blair Burgess trains the pacer for Burgess Stable of Campbellville, Champagne Stable of Toronto and Jim Walker of Port Perry, Ontario. It was the second win of the season – and the 15th to date – for the career winner of $321,778. He paid $4.50.

Bestulldotanite went to the front and didn’t look back en route to a five-length blowout score in the $10,000 Fillies & Preferred 2. Bruce Richardson hustled the Bob Ellis trainee to the lead from Post 5, and after carving out fractions of :27.4, :56.3 and 1:24.4 she used a :28.2 closing panel to win in 1:53.1. Winbak Your Kash was next best, with third prize earned by Zip Car.

The six-year-old daughter of Geartogear-Naomi Seelster, who is owned by JJS Stables of Grand Valley, Ontario, improved her 2015 record to 7-3-2 from 19 starts with the win. The 21-time winner pushed her lifetime earnings to $105,285 with the victory. She paid $4.70.

The program also carded a set of $7,500 Preferred 3 events – one for horses and geldings and one for fillies and mares – and they went to Exhilarated and Canadian Edition.

Exhilarated easily disposed of the six foes she faced for the tandem of driver Travis Henry and trainer Carmen Auciello. The recently-claimed four-year-old daughter of Mach Three-Animated Art drew clear to win by five lengths over Alibi Seelster in a career-best clocking of 1:52.3. Peppermint Patti took home third prize.

David Snowden of Bowmanville, Ontario owns the distaffer who is now 2-for-8 this season. The five-time winner bumped her bankroll to $89,065 with the win.

Canadian Edition snapped out of a mini slump with a 1:54.2 triumph in his $7,500 assignment for the team of driver Alfie Carroll and trainer Victory Puddy. The pacer was treated to a two-hole trip behind fractions of :27, :57.2 and 1:25.1 before popping out and using a :28.4 closing quarter to post the one-length win over Andreios Kardia. Sky Desperado grabbed the show dough.

The win was the fifth of the year for the four-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere-A Fiesty Affair. Keith Cassell of Smiths Falls, Ontario owns the career winner of $75,930.
