Ontario Sires Stakes graduate Camaes Fellow followed up his 1:48.1 world record win last weekend at Pocono Downs with another sub-1:49 victory on Saturday night in a return appearance at Mohawk Racetrack.
With Yannick Gingras in the bike, Camaes Fellow wore down the popular pacesetter Bigtime Ball and Paul MacDonell to win the $34,000 Preferred Pace in 1:48.4.
The Mach Three-Camae gelding advanced first over from fourth through fractions of :26.1, :54.2 and 1:21.4 before taking over command in the stretch and holding off the pocket-sitters, Ok Commander and Doug McNair, by three-quarters of a length. Longshot Mach Dreamer, driven by Sylvain Filion, rallied home from the backfield to show over two and a quarter lengths.
The win was Camaes Fellow's third in a row and fifth of the season in 13 starts. He returned $6.40 to his backers as the slight 2-1 second choice.
Trainer Ron Burke shares ownership of the five-year-old pacer as Burke Racing Stable LLC along with Weaver Bruscemi LLC and M1 Stable LLC.
